I created a homemade vacuum racking setup. I see most people on YouTube allow their wine to splash into the receiving carboy. Is this good practice? I know this is a semi vacuum but wouldn't it still be an oxidation risk? It degasses but I would think this isn't the best idea.

Hey Dan, if you are worried about oxidation you can fill the carboy first with either argon, nitrogen or even carbon dioxide.Cheers!Eric

agreed.  invest in a small bottle of argon.  CO2 isnt a good idea, because as a blanket, it will actually absorb back into the wine creating late gassing.
